La leggenda di Gallina morta

Niviano è un piccolo agglomerato di case. Molti abitanti delle zone limitrofe lo chiamano anche Gallina morta. Si narra che molti e molti anni fa nella località Le Aie ci fu una sanguinosa battaglia tra Romani e Galli. Gli abitanti di Niviano pregarono fiduciosamente san Rocco perché li proteggesse. Quando cominciò la battaglia, tutti erano coraggiosi e convinti che il Santo avrebbe fatto il miracolo della vittoria. Combatterono con spirito indomito e la vittoria ci fu veramente. Moltissimi Galli furono uccisi ed anche dopo parecchi anni furono trovate ossa umane. Per ringraziare san Rocco, in quel luogo fu costruito un oratorio a lui dedicato.

The legend of Dead hen

Niviano is a small group of houses. Many people from the surrounding areas call the village Dead hen. It is told that many years ago the locality Le Aie has been the site of a bloody battle between the Romans and the Gauls. The inhabitants of Niviano faithfully praied Saint Rocco to protect them.
When the battle began, everyone was bold and convinced that the Saint would have performed the miracle of the victory. They fought with indomitable spirit and the victory was actually theirs. Many Gauls were killed and for many years human bones were found. To thank Saint Rocco, an oratory devoted to his name was buit in that place.
